Abdominal Exercises
Crunches - Crunches are the simplest, most effective single exercise for the abdominals. Being the most common exercise for the abdominals, this means it is the best abdominal exercise that is most often done incorrectly. Proper form is not immediately obvious but with a few simple adjustments. Crunches can be extremely effective.
Towel Crunches - Many abdominal workouts do not work the abs through their full range motion. Towel Crunches helps eliminate incorrect form by placing the abs in a pre-stretch position. This abdominal exercise allows your muscles to contract more forcefully so you can get six pack abs.
Crunches with Lateral Flexion - This exercise keeps your entire abdominal wall under constant tension while giving your obliques a pretty good ab workout. The key to this abdominal exercise is to keep the movement completely lateral.
Knee-Ups - Abdominal exercises such as Knee-ups work your muscles excellent with proper form allowing maximum contraction. If you want great abs, knee-ups are a easy ab exercise to perform and it is cost efficient as well. You could even add ankle weights to make it more of an intense workout.
Vacuum - The Vacuum Exercise is a good abs workout for targeting the transverse abdominal muscles. Make sure to concentrate on blowing all your air out to intensify the contraction. This abdominal exercise can also be done from a kneeling position as well.
Lateral Bridge - The lateral bridge may look like an easy abdominal workout. These type of abdominal exercises are designed to increase your abdominal strength allowing you to have ripped abs. Avoid using momentum to throw your hips up into the air; that will decrease the training effect of the abdominal exercise.
Nautilus Crunches - Nautilus Crunches are a superb abdominal exercise to get 6 pack abs with an ab machine. This abdominal exercise targets your upper ab muscles. Nautilus Crunches is just one of many abdominal exercises that can produce 6 pack abs.
Pulley Crunches - Pulley crunches stress the entire rectus abdominis muscle. There is also powerful stress placed on the lower lats and the serratus muscles at the side of your ribcage. This is the best abdominal exercise and is one of many ab workouts to create good looking abs.
V-Ups - V-Ups is one of the best ab exercises to work to lower abs and is rather difficult. The vast majority of people will have to work up to this abdominal exercise. Although you need to perform the lifting phase of this movement quickly, avoid using that momentum to heave your legs and upper body off the ground. Concentrate on using your abs to generate the necessary power. So take your time, and don't attempt this lower abdominal exercise until you are ready.
