Leg ExercisesSeated Leg Extensions - The purpose of this leg exercise is to define and shape the front of the thigh. Leg Extensions are great for getting really deep definition in the thighs without losing size. Leg Extensions are especially great for developing the leg muscles around the knees. Leg Press - The purpose of this leg strengthening exercise is to build mass of the thigh muscles. Doing squats have a disadvantage; it's the pressure that they put on the lower back. Performing the leg press is a way around the disadvantage that allows you to use very heavy weights. Lunges (Dumbbells) - Lunges are one of many simple but effective leg exercises. This leg workout involves balance and coordination, which is very useful for sports as well as muscle development. This dumbbell version of the Lunge is the easiest to start with though it can also be done with a barbell. Lunges (Olympic Bar) - Lunges are an excellent exercise to stretch and develop the Quadriceps, the Hamstrings and the Glutes as well as the muscles of the hips. This barbell version of Lunges is a little more difficult than the dumbbell version. Safety Squats - Safety Squats are a squat exercise that works the leg muscles, with emphasis on the thighs. Squats develop the outside sweep of the quadriceps. This simple exercise can help you gain power and coordination.
