Towel Crunches

Many abdominal workouts do not work the abs through their full range motion. Towel Crunches helps eliminate incorrect form by placing the abs in a pre-stretch position. This exercise allows your muscles to contract more forcefully so you can get six pack abs.

Towel Crunches Technique and Form

  1. Fold a medium-sized bath towel in half lengthwise, and then roll it into a tube.

  2. Lie on the floor with your knees bent and your feet flat on the floor. Place the rolled towel beneath you, just above the small of your back.

  3. With your hands held lightly behind your head, exhale and lift your shoulder blades off the floor by crunching your rib cage toward your pelvis.

  4. When your shoulder blades and upper back are a couple of inches off the floor: pause momentarily before slowly lowering yourself back to the original starting position.

  5. Repeat for the number of desired repetitions.
